I just signed up with AMA for membership. The primary benefit (in my opinion) is the Roadside Assistance that comes with it. It covers your scooters AND your car or truck. Cost is $39 a year, which I think is less than I was paying for AAA.
To get the Roadside Assistance (which covers your scooters AND your car/truck) you have to sign up for "Automatic Renewal." At first I was a little concerned about the automatic nature of it, but they contact you 30 days before your membership is set to expire, and they give you an opt-out at that point if you want to discontinue before they charge your card again. Sounds like a good setup, and I end up needing a car towed at least once a year, so I for one will be saving money using these guys.
One big other benefit is that Big Easy Weekender can get event insurance from AMA if we have enough AMA members in attendance. If you have been considering AMA membership or just thinking in the back of your head that you need to sign up for Roadside Assistance, this would be a great time to do it because it will help make Big Easy Weekender an even better (and safer) rally.
Thanks.
